Wintergreen Essential Oil

Gaultheria procumbens

Most modern consumers are familiar with the aroma and flavor of wintergreen due to its popularity in candy and chewing gum. Wintergreen essential oil, however, has much more to offer therapeutically, as a soothing agent for aches and pains, for example. For aromatic or topical use (dilute when using topically).

Benefits-

• Soothes achy muscles and joints

• Promotes healthy respiratory function

• Frequently used in gum, candy, and toothpaste for flavoring

Possible Uses-

•  Wintergreen has a warming effect when applied to
skin and is excellent to use in a massage to relieve
sore muscles. A little goes a long way, so use
sparingly and dilute with Fractionated Coconut Oil to
minimize any skin sensitivity.

•  For a soothing bath, add 1–2 drops of Wintergreen
essential oil to warm bath water.

• Wintergreen essential oil is not recommended for
internal use and should be stored out of reach from
children.

Possible Precautions- Conduct a skin test to check for any irritation. If needed dilute the oil with a carrrier oil such as coconut oil or olive oil. Ingesting this oil is not recommended.
